Our children's ministry is a growing ministry. Breaking the children into age-appropriate groups for Church School enables learning to take place at the child's level. Teachers use music, stories, crafts and fun to teach the love and Word of God, principles and teachings of Jesus, and the faith and understanding of the Holy Spirit. Each class has a regular teacher throughout the year so the children find familiarity and comfort in the classroom weekly. Other teacher volunteers assist in the classroom to provide the best possible supervision and instruction. Church School currently meets following the children's prayer for a time of stories, scripture, activities and crafts.
Our church school programs will meet during second hour programming with our children departing for Kids' Church during worship.
Childcare (any child)
Childcare and/or children's programs are offered during all church services, programs and special events except during a few family or intergenerational activities or services such as Christmas Pageant and Dinner, and Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.
Reducing the Risk
In June of 2003, First Baptist Church of Rochester adopted a policy to help provide for the safety of the children, the vulnerable, and the frail attending our church. The Reducing the Risk, Policy and Procedures was developed to protect those who cannot protect themselves. It was put into place and is practiced by the church to assist in the safety and education of all persons who may be at potential risk. It provides for a minimum of two individuals with the children at all times, hall monitors during children's programs, a procedure for locking doors after the beginning of worship, and a procedure of screening and record keeping for all workers, staff and volunteers.
