An American Baptist Church

...but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the
blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from
all sin.   I John 1:7

Our Faith In Action Honorees

Congratulations to Our
2010 Faith In Action Honorees

Each year the Greater Rochester Community of Churches celebrates with the greater faith communities those people who give of themselves in daily tasks to the needs of others, and put their "faith into action" as an expression of God's love and work in the world. This year's Faith In Action Honorees for the First Baptist Church of Rochester are:

Brenda died suddenly, not long after she attended last year's GRCC Faith-In-Action event. She is remembered for her loving partnership wtih her husband, Pastor Ken Williams, for nearly 40 years. As teacher, youth leader, advocate for the Cameron Community Ministries Bowl-a-thon and hands-on mission experiences, Brenda was tireless. Her cancer became another opportunity to express faithful courage and to inspire others to look beyond limitations to the limitless possibilites in God. Charles Dickens said it rightly: "And can it be, that in a world so full and busy, the loss of one creature makes a void in any heart, so wide and deep that nothing but the width and depth of eternity can fill it up." Brenda is missed; still, she inspires faith in action.

Susan Boulay, her son, Peter, and Peter's spouse, Suzette, are celebrated for their commitment, enthusiasm, and strength of purpose. As a leader, particularly as Moderator, Susan has advocated for public process, well-definded procedures, and transparency in decision-making, according to congregational values. Advocacy for inclusion is Susan's ministry, a ministry that she has invested in her son Peter. Peter has become a "rolling witness" for his faith, inspiring others with his much beloved public testimonials, his enthusastic good humor, and his gifts as an usher and a member of the Worship Committee. There is no "dis" in his ability! Suzette joins Peter in expressing love that is boundless and full of hospitality. Hard working and creative, Suzette gives her best to the Fellowship Committee. She is one of the few who can actually keep up with Peter! Susan, Peter, and Suzette live their faith. For them, faith is fuel for action.
